The first gameplay for RoboCop: Rogue City is here and looks deadly accurate

Kicking off their recent event, Nacon have unveiled the first gameplay for RoboCop Rogue City, a game we learnt was coming last year, but hadn’t seen anything on it since then, check out the reveal below.

While the game is based on the first three films in the original RoboCop universe, the game will feature a new RoboCop story, made to fit within those existing tales we already know. At the end of the trailer, we got hear the iconic line from RoboCop, “dead or alive, you’re coming with me!” and it was voiced by Peter Weller, the actor who brought the role to life on screen, as he returns to voice the character in the game.

"We're delighted to be teaming up with MGM to offer a new vision of a popular franchise that was created over 30 years ago. This game is the perfect fit to pursue our aim of offering different gaming experiences to the widest possible audience," said Alain Falc, CEO of NACON.

Robert Marick, Executive Vice President Global Consumer Products and Experiences, at MGM, said, “We’re very much looking forward to collaborating with NACON and Teyon to bring one of MGM’s most timeless I.P.’s back to gaming platforms with a brand-new story. The film is known for gripping action and complex storytelling, and we are excited for RoboCop fans to experience this first hand through the game.”

When the game releases next June, it will be part of the 35th anniversary celebrations for the series, but what else that will include is not yet know. As for the game, we only have a generic story setup, which is below, the rest is shrouded in secrecy still.

Become the iconic part man, part machine, all cop hero as you attempt to bring justice to the dangerous, crime-ridden streets of Old Detroit. Armed with your trusty Auto-9, factory-built strength, years of experience on the force and a variety of tools at your disposal, you will fight forces seeking to destroy the city you call home in an all new first-person, explosive hunt for the truth. You have the power to decide how to fulfil prime directives in your own way, but as the story unfolds proceed with caution because corruption and greed know no limits.

RoboCop: Rogue City will be coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch in June 2023.
