The first details on the return of E3 have been announced

The first details for E3 2023 have been released and now offer a dedicated consumer day, along with extending the show for an extra day.

ReedPop, the folks behind events like Star Wars Celebration, New York Comic-Con and the upcoming PAX Australia, are the ones bringing E3 2023 back to the real world and they have announced the first details, including the dates.

The show will run from Tuesday June 13 through until Friday June 16, making the show four days long for the first time in its history. The show will be split with some business only days, a consumer only day and a mixed day, here is the breakdown.

  • Tuesday June 13 - Business Only

  • Wednesday June 14 - Business Only

  • Thursday June 15 - Mixed

  • Friday June 16 - Consumer Only

Apart from that mixed day, where both groups are being welcomed in, the others are not crossing over, which means if you are a consumer who wants to attend, the show will only give you two days and those business folks who want four days, will likely need to buy a ticket for that last day.

The show will still take place in the Los Angeles Convention Center and make use of all the previous spaces, so the South and West halls, the Concourse and attached meeting rooms, but the organisers are also hoping to make use of the Kentia Hall, which is located under the South Hall.

The space will be split into two, one of the main halls will be all about those big booths, with giant screens and props - just like in E3s past. The other hall will be a business focused venue, with comfortable booths and such, exact details are not yet known.

On the consumer days, there will also be live streams of content, no details as to what, but I would imagine it would be like most other shows, with panels and such, E3 have done that in years past.

Something that could do very well is in the Concourse Hall, which has normally been for meeting rooms, that will become a dedicated indie space, but again there is no specifics beyond that.

Finally, the show is going to connect with other events that take place during the week, like the PC Gaming Show, to let them showcase their content in more places, whilst still retaining their independence. They are also going to offer a meeting app for the show, so people who are attending can connect with exhibitors, no matter if they are contained within the show building itself or are doing a Devolver Digital and taking over a car park.

So there you go, the first details and as someone who has gone to a few of them, it is great to see changes being made.
