The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is celebrating 10 years in a massive way
Can you believe the game that keeps getting released onto new platforms, every few years, is actually almost 10 years old. Yes Skyrim will turn 10 on November 11 and Bethesda are set to celebrate it in a new way, complete with an Anniversary Edition, but before we get into that check the video out below.
The team at Bethesda Game Studios, the folks behind The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, took to the QuakeCon stream to discuss the now iconic and meme worthy opening of the game, check it out.
Beyond a nice long chat, Skyrim’s 10th anniversary is set to be big in a few additional ways, including a concert, a museum and more.
Over on the games celebration website, there is a very worthy read of how the Dragon language came to be, because without it, the game just wouldn’t be the same, you can read it in full here, but I love this honest answer to how the task of creating a fictional language begin.
“That is… a great question, and one I don’t specifically remember the answer to,” says Emil Pagliarulo, Design Director at Bethesda Game Studios and current Lead Designer & Writer working on Starfield. “I remember discussing language and writing with (Bethesda Game Studios Executive Producer) Todd Howard, and it just sort of snowballed from there.”
Beyond language lessons, more content is planned for the celebration, including the Skyrim Museum, where fans can submit their art, for a chance to be featured. This doesn’t mean you have to draw the most amazing piece ever, if your drawing skills are like mine, I am sure they would love any submission, no matter how stick figure it might be.
But it isn’t just drawings, are you a cosplayer, maybe you are a nail technician, if you can create something, you can submit it to the museum, all the details you need and some of the art, can be found here.
If the music is your speed then you will be happy to note that on Friday November 12, thanks timezones, a special concert will be played in London at the historical Alexandra Palace Theatre and feature London Symphony Orchestra and London Voices Choir. Being broadcast on Twitch and YouTube, you will be able to take in a tribute to the many anthems, ambient soundscapes and memorable tunes of Skyrim.
After all that, is time to talk the game, specifically the newly announced Anniversary Edition, which will be the standard offering for almost all platforms going forth, sorry Switch owners. But for all owners of the Skyrim Special Edition, new content is coming via the Creation Club and will be Fishing, Survival Mode and even new quests with Saints and Seducers.
On November 11, a free upgrade will be given to owners of the Special Edition on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, to grant the best possible versions of the game there.
As for the Anniversary Edition, not only will it come with the most enhanced version of the game, for your platform of choice, in addition to the three free Creation Club items mentioned above, it will also offer all three expansions and over 500 pieces of unique content from Creation Club, including pre-existing and new quests, dungeons, bosses, weapons, spells and more.
If you already own the Special Edition of the game, you can pay to upgrade to the Anniversary Edition, to get all the extra content that is included within it.
