The Big Stories You May Have Missed Last Week

Each week there are a lot of news stories that come through, some are massive enough that they generate conversation, then there are those that can just slide on by.

There is no denying that last week saw perhaps the biggest piece of news ever in the gaming space, larger than any console announcement, or merger of two existing companies into one entity. But there was more than just Microsoft breaking open their cheque book, so lets take a look and see what the other big stories were.


Xbox Is Buying Activision-Blizzard, In A Deal Worth $70 Billion USD

There is a lot that we could say about this deal here, but when you consider that Microsoft has spent billions on studios and publishers already, see Playground Games, Obsidian Entertainment, Ninja Theory and then of course Zenimax Media and its stable of developers, Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, Tango Gameworks and beyond.

The deal for Activision-Blizzard is not complete yet, it will take 12 months to clear, but if it does, not only will it increase the number of studios that Microsoft have making games, it will give the folks at Activision’s many studios, a chance to get some proper management, one that cares for its people.
