The big reveals from the recent Age of Empires Showcase

Microsoft recently hosted an Age of Empires showcase, diving into new details for some of their upcoming games, as well as new DLC and updates for their existing line up.

Here is everything new that was shown off, the updates for existing games can be found by clicking the name of the game, here for Age of Empires IV and here for Age of Empires III Definitive Edition.

Age of Mythology

In the video below, we got our first look at gameplay of this remake of the spin-off series, showing off Medusa, Pegasus and Cerberus from the Greek pantheon. Art Director Melinda Rose is the one presenting and dives into details on how each unit has been updated, given completely new art and even had gameplay tweaks that will intensify their strengths and unique powers making them even more important in your strategy.

Even better the game has been confirmed to be releasing in 2024 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and Windows. It will of course be in Game Pass on day one as well.

Age of Empires Mobile

When it was first announced, we only got a small scene of soldiers marching, but now Age of Empires Mobile has revealed a lot about the game. First we were given an actual gameplay trailer and then a developer diary.

As expected the developer of this version is TiMi Studio Group, whose name has been attached to mobile games for Pokémon, Call of Duty and Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds.

The game features elements from Age of Empires games, merged with brand-new and mobile-specific gameplay. You’ll engage in strategic resource management, develop unique technologies and train diverse armies to build and defend your kingdom.

There is no release date for it yet, but mobile games tend not to be dated until they are ready for launch. Either way you can pre-register on both iOS and Android today.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition – Victors and Vanquished DLC

Finally, the last piece of actual news was for Age of Empires II, which many players believe to be the best game in the series. This time a new single-player focused expansion is coming on March 14, yes in a few weeks and is called Victors and Vanquished.

The DLC features 19 epic scenarios, where your strategy and choices will decide your fate: will you emerge as the ultimate victor, or fall as the vanquished?
