Switch Online: Ridge Racer 64 speeds onto the service today

Nintendo have announced that Ridge Racer 64 has raced onto the Nintendo Switch Online Nintendo 64 App today. This was the first time the arcade racer came to a Nintendo platform was actually crafted by Nintendo Software Technologies themselves, check out their new trailer for it below.

If you don’t know what the game is about, Nintendo released this little blurb about the game.

Released in 2000 for the Nintendo 64™ console, this arcade classic takes you on fast-paced races across three different environments for a total of nine courses! Dive right in with Quick Play to race three laps around the Revolution Novice course or take on Grand Prix and choose any available track to test your skills. Other modes include Car Attack, which lets you compete for better cars, and Time Attack, where the only thing you're racing against is your own best time! Challenge your friends in Multiplayer and put the pedal to the metal in three modes: Battle Mode, Stage Mode, and Team Mode.

As strange as it is, this is the first new release of a Ridge Racer game since the 2013 disaster that sort of killed the series. Since its arcade release, there have been 16 games released in the series, two of which were exclusive to Nintendo platforms, though the DS release was a remake of the 64 release, so that number is soft.
