Surface Pro 8 is enhancing its offerings with Thunderbolt support and more
Microsoft couldn’t host a Surface event and not showcase the next model of the product that kickstarted everything, the Surface Pro and you would be right, say hello to Surface Pro 8, the next item in the series lineup.
The Surface Pro line has had a few staples over the years, touchscreen, removeable keyboard, kickstand and all that is here again, but while things may look the same on the surface, no pun intended, there are some big changes.
The first big change is that the Surface Pro 8 has no USB-A ports, instead it has two Thunderbolt 4 enabled ports, allowing for you to connect to external displays, storage or GPU’s, without the need for the Surface Dock.
Those ports are located on the right of the device, just above the Surface Connector port, which is where you charge it, and tucked just behind the 13inch 120Hz touchscreen.
As far as other internals go, there is the new 11th gen Intel CPU inside, with upto 32gb of RAM, Wi-Fi 6 support, a 10MP 4K rear-facing camera and a 5MP 1080p front facing, for all those video chats.
As always, if you want the keyboard, that needs to be bought separately, but you can then opt to get the Surface Pro Signature Keyboard, if you want to type in comfort, with backlit keys and large glass touchpad.
As for how much one of these will cost, when they become available on November 4, the starting price is $1,649 and the prices go up from there. The Surface Pro 8 will be available at Microsoft direct, as well as Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, and other major retailers.
