Star Wars The High Republic is starting early next year

Over the past few years Star Wars has seen some highs and lows when it comes to their movies, the TV shows have been mostly good as well and let’s not forget the countless books, comics and games in the mix. But almost all of the content we know has played out over the same 100 years, from the events kicking on in The Phantom Menace, to those that ended Rise of Skywalker and now there is something new.

Star Wars The High Republic is set 200 years before The Phantom Menace, this is a period were the Republic is strong, at least in the systems they are involved with. Jedi’s on the edges of Republic controlled space are more like Texas Rangers, there is a lot more freedom and emotion in the Jedi.

While initially, the first lot of books and comics were due out last month, the state of the world has thrown that out the window, but now the first lot are coming in January 2021. Both Charles Soule’s adult novel Star Wars: The High Republic: Light of the Jedi and Justina Ireland’s middle grade novel Star Wars: The High Republic: A Test of Courage will both now release on January 5, 2021. Claudia Gray’s young adult novel Star Wars: The High Republic: Into the Dark has moved to a new release date of February 2, 2021.

The only character from the saga we know that will make an appearance in The High Republic is Yoda, as he is 900 years old by the time he passes in Empire Strikes Back, here is is a much more spry 700.

But while Yoda will be in it, there will be an entirely new cast of heroes to discover, like Avar Kriss or Loden Greatstorm. There is a full breakdown on the first lot of new characters over on the official site for The High Republic, so give it a read.
