Star Wars is bringing in new directors from varied backgrounds

A few weeks ago, it was rumoured that Leslye Headland, the creator Russian Doll would be developing an all new live action Star Wars series for Disney+, well StarWars.com confirmed that news is in fact true.

This new show, of which no details are announced, will be the fourth live action Star Wars show on the service, with Season 1 of the Mandalorian already being available, with Season 2 of the show has completed filming and now in post-production, where they add all the effects and such. The two other previously announced series: one based on Cassian Andor’s life prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and another following the adventures of Obi-Wan Kenobi between Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope.

Stepping away from the small screen and onto the large one, Taika Waititi, the man who directed Thor Ragnarok, whilst also being the delight that was Korg and recently picked up an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for JoJo Rabbit, which he also directed, would be co-writing and directing a new Star Wars movie. Joining Waititi on the screenplay will be Academy Award® nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Last Night in Soho), who received a BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film of the Year on the three-time Oscar-winning film, 1917.

It is not Waititi’s first Star Wars experience, having voiced IG-11 in The Mandalorian and directing the series final of Season 1
