Set sail for more adventure with the reveal of One Piece Odyssey

Bandai Namco have announced an all-new One Piece game is coming, with One Piece Odyssey officially revealed for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, check out the announcement trailer below.

They did tease the game late last year, but details were very light, now we know a lot more including that the series creator Eiichiro Oda is on board, to ensure that the game is as authentic as it can be.

Development is being lead by ILCA Inc, and if that name sounds familiar, that is the same development house that did the remakes of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl last year.

“We are happy to be joining the celebration of the 25th anniversary of One Piece with the release of ONE PIECE ODYSSEY,” said Katsuaki Tsuzuki, Producer at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc. “We have been teaming up with ILCA Inc. and have been working hard in collaboration with Eiichiro Oda to create a great adventure drama that touches the world of ONE PIECE in a game that we hope will surpass players expectations.”

One Piece Odyssey transports the Straw Hats to a mysterious new island where they embark on quests and fight powerful enemies and massive bosses in exciting turn-based battles. In the game, players take on the role of nine of their favourite pirates, playing as Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Franky, Sanji, Usopp, Nico Robin, TonyTony Chopper, and Brook. A new character revealed during the livestream, the cheerful and towering Adio, joins the Straw Hats in their latest adventure.

One final nugget of information is that the game will feature the original Japanese voice cast from the anime, there is no word on if there will be an English option, but at least it will look and sound authentic.

The game hasn’t released a lot of details, but we do have some concept art and a few screens, so you can enjoy those. There is a developer interview, which you can watch below, that will provide a few extra bits of context to what they are aiming for.

Release wise, it is aiming for a late 2022 release for all its announced platforms, we just have to wait and see on exact date.
