Sega Mega Drive games are being added to Nintendo Switch Online this October

Nintendo bringing Nintendo 64 games to Switch Online is not unexpected, welcome to be sure, but its their own platform, however Sega jumping onboard with the Mega Drive, that is big.

Much like the Nintendo 64 games, these will go live in October, a date is not yet known, but what we do know is the day one line-up:

  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2

  • Streets of Rage 2

  • Ecco the Dolphin

  • Castlevania: Bloodlines

  • Contra: Hard Corps

  • Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine

  • Golden Axe

  • Gunstar Heroes

  • M.U.S.H.A.

  • Phantasy Star IV

  • Ristar

  • Shining Force

  • Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master

  • Strider

Also like the Nintendo 64 offerings, there will be controllers that you can get, though some Sega fans will notice the lack of six face buttons on these, Japan however is getting the right ones.

Finally, in order to access these games, you must have a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, prices not yet known, but you can at least buy the controllers with a standard membership.
