Quake II is getting a special RTX release

Nvidia and Bethesda have announced that Quake II is making a come back, built from scratch to make use of the RTX technology that is at the forefront of the latest Nvidia graphics cards.

On June 6th, Quake II RTX will be available for free, for all to download, but it will only come with the first three levels, if you own the game already, the download will give you the entire game, without restrictions.

Quake II RTX is the world’s first game that is fully path-traced, a ray-tracing technique that unifies all lighting effects such as shadows, reflections, refractions and more into a single ray-tracing algorithm. The result is a stunning new look for id Software’s Quake II, one of the world’s most popular games, originally launched in 1997.
