Private Division and Wētā Workshop are joining forces to bring a new game direct from middle-earth

In a move that is a little surprising, Private Division have announced that they are working with Wētā Workshop, to bring a new middle-earth related game to players, which seems right given the history that Wētā Workshop have with the brand.

Details are incredibly scarce, but we do know that it should arrive sometime between October 1st 2023 and September 30th 2024.

“We are thrilled to partner with Wētā Workshop to publish a game set in such an extraordinary and celebrated universe,” said Michael Worosz, Chief Strategy Officer, Take-Two Interactive, and Head of Private Division. “The Lord of the Rings IP is home to so many remarkable stories, and no entity is better equipped than the team at Wētā Workshop to create a distinctive, new Middle-earth gaming experience.”

“It’s a privilege to create a new game set in Middle-earth, especially one that’s so different from what fans have played previously,” said Amie Wolken, Head of Interactive at Wētā Workshop. “As fans ourselves, we’re excited for gamers to explore Middle-earth in a way they never have before, and introduce new fans to the magic of The Lord of the Rings.”

As the game, which has no released title, has no date or platforms, there really isn’t much more to get excited about.

Until then, you can look forward to The Lord of the Rings Gollum, whenever that one releases - as it was delayed recently from its planned September 1st release. If that doesn’t interest you, then there is always the Electronic Arts mobile game, The Lord Of The Rings: Heroes Of Middle-Earth or perhaps you want to survive middle-earth and if that’s the case you can look forward to The Lord Of The Rings: Return To Moria.

If games are not your thing, the Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power show kicks off next month on Amazon Prime.
