Porsche looks to the future in Cyberpunk 2077, with their iconic 1977 911 Turbo
Teased as apart of the vehicles section of the recent episode of Night City Wire, CD Projekt Red and Porsche have joined together, to bring an iconic car into the world of Cyberpunk 2077, the 1977 911 Turbo and it is the car of Johnny Silverhand himself.
While the car looks like the one from the 1970’s, as this is Cyberpunk, there have been some modifications made to its internals, as well as visually to match Johnny’s unique style. But the car was actually recreated as close to the original that the designers could get. By using sketches, photographs, and photogrammetry, they were able to recreate the entire car for the game.
“Johnny’s a legend of the Cyberpunk universe. When thinking about what kind of car he’d be driving through the streets of Night City, we knew it would have to be one just as legendary as he is. Having Johnny’s story in mind, and being huge fans of Porsche ourselves, the answer could only be the classic 911 Turbo,” said Paweł Mielniczuk, Art Director of Characters, Weapons and Vehicles, CD PROJEKT RED.
The trailer above also highlights the real world version of the car, created by Porsche and will be available on display outside the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart from October 15th to October 22nd. Before any questions are raised, a global tour is unlikely for the car, for now, you can check out some screens from the game of it.
The game is out on November 17 for Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4, with free next gen updates coming for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
