Pokémon Champions is bringing battles back in an all-new game

Pokémon Champions has been announced, though details are scarce, with The Pokémon Works and GAME FREAK leading the development. Check out the announcement trailer for the game below.

Much like the Pokémon Stadium games of old, Champions will let players battle it out across Switch and mobile devices. Just like those old games, transfers will be possible, but just without the support of the Nintendo 64 Transfer Pak.

Instead the game will be compatible with Pokémon Home, meaning that your Pokémon from Pokémon Go! and Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet can be imported into the game. Given the wording, it looks like it might be possible to have Pokémon given to you in the game and they will level up, but likely not as quickly or as fun as the other games.

The only hope I have for the game is that battles are more real-time, just like those coming to Pokémon Legends: Z-A, but we won’t know until they release more details.

There is no release date for the game, but given that they have confirmed Switch as a platform, one might hope for later this year, but there is just no way of knowing.

Finally, just because it looks awesome, here is the official art for the game in full.
