Lego and Pokémon are joining forces in 2026

In a move that is quite surprising and at the same time, it shouldn’t be, but Lego and The Pokémon Company have announced that in 2026, they will be releasing LEGO® Pokémon sets.

For the longest time Pokémon fans who wanted to build a collection had to make do with either Mega Blocks or Nanablocks, regular sized offerings were not possible. Ok, that is hyperbole as the Mega Blocks were normal sized, but just on the name they were not.

So what is included in this new partnership, no idea. All we have right now is this description:

This new partnership will bring the world of Pokémon to life in entirely new ways, allowing fans to build beloved Pokémon in LEGO brick form.

Now given Lego tends to leak worse than a submarine with a screen door, I would expect these sets to be revealed by the end of the year, even if Lego are not planning that. This is due to Lego telling retailers what is going on, long before they tell fans and as we know, retailers are not known for their discretion.

We are thrilled to be working with a brand that has such a deep and passionate fanbase as Pokémon, partnering to give our joint audiences what they have been asking us for. We strongly believe that through the endless possibilities of LEGO play and the exciting adventures the world of Pokémon brings, this partnership will create a range of new possibilities for Trainers and builders alike.
— Julia Goldin, Chief Product & Marketing Officer of the LEGO Group
The LEGO Group and Pokémon have strong shared values of imagination, creativity and fun, making this the perfect partnership to deliver unique, meaningful and engaging ways for Trainers to experience the Pokémon brand. Working with the best-in-class team at the LEGO Group and seeing their dedication and passion for the project has culminated in an innovative and groundbreaking collaboration that will surprise and delight fans. We cannot wait to see both LEGO fans and the Pokémon community’s reactions in 2026
— Gaku Susai, Chief Product and Experience Officer at The Pokémon Company International

With Lego usually revealing things, officially, a few months at a minimum ahead of released, if the first sets are launching on January 1st, which Animal Crossing and Mario Kart got this year, we could hear about them in August. Honestly, we don’t really know as there is just so many unknowns right now, but the only question that remains, are you gonna build them all?
