PlayStation 5 finally gets 1440p support, along with some other highly requested features

PlayStation have announced that a new system update is now available for PlayStation 5 consoles, that among other things, finally brings the 1440p resolution to the console. Check out the below video to see why that means.

There are some requirements to be aware of, as 1440p video output on PS5 requires a TV or PC monitor that supports 1440p/60Hz, or 1440p/60Hz and 120Hz. Results may vary depending on the game being played. In addition, the newly released VRR supports 1080p and 4K video output but not 1440p. so if you are making use of that, just be aware of the limitation.

The update also adds folders to the platform, though PlayStation are calling them Gamelists, you can read up on the full details here.

Also, new updates are rolling out for the PlayStation App on iOS and Android devices, that will let you start a remote play session from the device, rather than the console. That means as long as your console is in rest mode, you can start enjoying your PlayStation 5 game from anywhere.
