PAX Australia unveils its headline speaker in Erika Ishii and much more

For each PAX event around the world, well America and here, there is what’s the call a Storytime speaker, they are someone who has had an impact in the world of geeky things. PAX Australia 2022 for example saw PlayStation icon Shuhei Yoshida take up the mantle.

This year, Erika Ishii will be the one to step onto the stage, to talk about her time as an actor, both behind the microphone and away from it. If the name sounds somewhat familiar to you, Erika is currently known as the voice of Valkyrie in Apex Legends, Kitsune in Call of Duty: Warzone and Ana Bray and Kridis in Destiny 2.

Ishii won’t be the only voice actor to take stage at the show this year, as Ben Prendrgast and Jenny Yokobori will also be in attendance. Prendergast is best known as Fuse in Apex Legends, but has done many other voice roles including in God of War: Ragnarok. For Yokobori, her voice credits include Street Figher 6, Fire Emblem Heroes, Ghost of Tsushima and non game work like The Simpsons.

The recently released Stray Gods: The Role Playing Musical will get a second act at the show, with the team from Summerfall Studios set to appear, including the games Creative Director, David Gaider. We have our review for the game here, so if you have no idea what it is about, you can check it out and then here from the former Storytime speaker from PAX Australian 2019.

For those seeking more musical goodness, The Consouls, a Sydney based music group will be taking stage during the PAX AUS Concert. The group are known for doing jazz arrangements of video game music and they recently made their game debut, having created new arrangements and tunes for Advance Wars 1+2 Re:Boot Camp for the Switch.

Devolver Digital have been big supporters of the show over the years and they will be back again this year, showcasing The Plucky Squire, which is being made here in Australia.

If you thought that was all the news, then buckle up as we speed through more. In addition to all the above, a host of community gamers and streamers will also be making appearances throughout the day. Here is the list:

  • TOS Girls - Australia’s largest group of female streamers

  • John Robinson - The Dark Room - Twitch

  • Halfbrick Studios - developers of Fruit Ninja and more
