PAX Australia has confirmed its Story Time Speaker and first big guest

With PAX Australia around 4 months away, you might think it would be too early to start talking about the shows content, but that is not stopping them, as we have details on the Storytime Speaker and the first guest.

The Storytime Speaker for PAX Australia 2024 is Julian Wilton, Creative Director of Massive Monster, best known for the cute but not so cuddly Cult of the Lamb. Here is the official blurb from PAX Aus about Julian.

Julian created and sold his first console game at the age of 17 and no one has been able to stop him since. After continuing to create games to support himself whilst studying design at university, Julian and two of his mates started Massive Monster in 2016. Since then, the studio has produced over fifty games, including legendary and multi-award-winning ‘Cult of The Lamb’ which took the whole world by storm in 2022, and ‘Adventure Pals,’ the 2016 PAX Aus Indie Showcase winner.

Julian’s Storytime will open PAX Aus 2024 in the main theatre at midday on Friday 11th October, kicking things off with his journey into game development, the success of Massive Monster and the road to their major publishing deal with UK publisher, Devolver Digital.

International guests are often last minute additions to the show, as people confirm flights and what not, so getting an early confirmation is rare. 2024 will see Commander Shepherd appear, at least the male variant, as Mark Meer is coming down under. Here is the blurb for him.

Best known for his role as the iconic Commander Shepard in the Mass Effect game series. His voice is also featured in a number of other games from BioWare Corp (notably the Baldur’s Gate and Dragon Age series), Hinterland Studio’s The Long Dark, WB Games’ Gotham Knights, and Beamdog’s MythForce.

A fan himself of all things TableTop, Meer was the Keeper of Arcane Lore in Call of Cthulhu: Bookshops of Arkham and its sequel Graveyards of Arkham, and a cast member and guest on several RPG series including Wizards of the Coast’s official Dungeons & Dragons Ravenloft stream The Black Dice Society, Vampire the Masquerade: L.A. by Night, Pod by Night, RealmSmith, and Idle Champions.

For those who go for the games, there is no confirmation of any developers or publishers attending at this stage, but hopefully some are revealed soon.
