Nintendo's Wii U and 3DS platforms are losing their final services this April
Nintendo announced last year that the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS consoles would lose their online play functions in early April of 2024 and now we know exactly when.
As Nintendo of America tweeted out, the servers will be taken down on April 8th at 4pm Los Angeles time, which means that they will go offline at 9am on April 9th AEST for us in Australia.
Update: as of 4/8, online play and other functionality that uses online communication will end service for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U software. Thank you very much for your continued support of our products.

Anyone who has an account on either console, that has not yet linked them to their Nintendo Account, ie the Switch, can do so until March 11th, when that ability will stop.
As for the time of writing, there will be two remaining services that will be available to use online:
Pokemon Bank
Poke Transporter
But it is highly likely that they will be taken down sooner rather than later. You can read all the details about the shutdown here, including any answers to some of the more likely questions.
So does this matter to you, or have you been offline on the platforms already?
