Nintendo have officially confirmed a new console is coming, will be revealed this fiscal year

In a move that many were hoping would happen, Nintendo have finally confirmed that a Switch successor is coming, however the bad news is that they will reveal it sometime in the new fiscal year.

The Japanese fiscal year runs April 1st to March 31st, so revealing it sometime this year means that they have 10 months and 23 days to do so, from the time we posted this news.

When exactly the reveal will happen is unknown, however the statement from Furukawa-san, the President of Nintendo states that it won’t happen in the June Direct, which was also confirmed. The full statement is below, with the source embedded below that.

This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015. We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.
