Ninja Gaiden 4 has been announced

It has been more than a decade since the last time we saw an original entry in the Ninja Gaiden series, but that is changing with the reveal of Ninja Gaiden 4. Check out the trailer for the game below.

The new game is being developed by Koei Tecmo games and Platinum Games and will feature a new member of the Raven clan, but fans can relax Ryu Hayabusa will be playable as well.

The new character is Yakumo, a younger member of the clan who has a mission he will fulfil at all costs. Ryu’s appearance is that of a master and a roadblock to Yakumo. While it is sad that we won’t get to play as Ryu through a full adventure, it was explained that a new character is more welcoming to new players. But as I said before, Ryu will be playable throughout the game, so long time fans will not be left out.

Fans of the series will know that combat is a core aspect of it, but if you watch the trailer or the Developer Direct presentation, you will see wall running and rails. It was explained that those elements add in tension between the fights, because the series was not hard enough. Those moments are there to keep Yakumo on their toes, a great place for a Ninja to be, but they are also there to keep the action going for players, ensuring that moments of calm are few and far between.

The Xbox Wire has an interview with both Fumihiko Yasuda, Head of Team Ninja and Ninja Gaiden 4 producer at Koei Tecmo Games, as well as Yuji Nakao, Ninja Gaiden 4’s producer and director from PlatinumGames. So make sure you give it a read.

The game is coming out sometime in the Spring of 2025 and is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PC and PlayStation 5.
