New details revealed for The Duskbloods

Revealed in the Switch 2 Direct, The Duskbloods is a brand new game made by developer FromSoftware and is a Switch 2 exclusive, with it coming in 2026. Part of the reveal was that new details for the game would be revealed via the Creators’ Voice story with the games director Hidetaka Miyazaki.

With that piece now live, we have new details and more importantly some new screens to enjoy. For those coming for the new images, those are below, but now the details.

First the big thing for this game is that it is PvPvE, which means Player versus Player versus Enemy. What this allows for is for players to engage with enemies, like is tradition in a FromSoftware made game, but while you do that, other players can bring a fight to you, or help you out with your current target.

In the game, players are Bloodsworn, all of whom are members of a group that have achieved super-human abilities, through the power of a special blood. You will have noticed in trailer there is a little vampiristic action going on, but the players are not vampires, which removes the entire idea of the monster side of them.

In The Duskbloods, the Bloodsworn are competing for something known as “First Blood.” As human society reaches an end, First Blood flows in an event known as the “Twilight of Humanity.” The Bloodsworn are summoned to the Twilight of Humanity across a variety of different times and places in a bid to obtain First Blood.

While the game appears to feature a very gothic look, there is no fixed place or even time period for the game, meaning that you might see the action take place around a gothic inspired location, a Victorian inspired area and something else.

The game will offer up more than a dozen characters to play as and while each character will have some basic similarities, like running, double jump and ranged weapons, the main weapons they use will be exclusive to themselves. Characters will offer up some level of customisation, the amount is not known at this time, so even if players have the same character as someone else, there could be a difference between them.

You might think that as a multiplayer game, you need to be the last one standing, but the game will also offer players other ways of winning. One example revealed is that players might need to team up to take down an even larger boss and that could give you the victory. Before each match, players will start in a hub, letting you get ready and then once the match is done, players will be returned to that hub. Even if players don’t win, they will still get some rewards for taking part, but again no details on what those are.

For those who know that multiplayer PvP is not for them, like myself, worry not, as the game has more ways of earning points in the matches. Even if you never come first, with in-match events, like the giant stone face in the sky, players can still progress.

With the game coming in 2026, there is going to be quite a wait ahead, but I would expect we learn more details about the game between now and whenever it releases.
