Need for Speed Heat gets Cross-Play support

It was revealed a while back now that Criterion would be leading the development of Need for Speed going forward and it seems that that does not mean the next new game, as Matt Webster, the General Manager of Criterion has revealed that they have been working on the newest patch for Need for Speed Heat, which was developed by Ghost Games.

While there are a host of fixes to be found, all the details you need can be found here, the big news is that the patch will also add Cross-Play Support, making this the first EA game to do so.

At Criterion, we've always believed that games are better with friends. We don’t want your platform of choice to be a barrier for that experience. So we're thrilled to let you all know that on June 9, Need for Speed Heat will be the first EA title to offer cross-play, meaning that players – regardless of their platform – can jump into Palm City together as one, united community.

You can read the full statement here and more news for Need for Speed is coming at EA Play, which is now happening on June 19, having been pushed back a few weeks.
