NBA 2K23 is again getting a WNBA Edition

As we have another day to go, before 2K reveal details about NBA 2K23, we at least know that there will be a WNBA themed cover, with the company announcing that Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird will be on it.

If the names don’t mean much to you, basically they are big names in the WNBA, with Diana Taurasi being a five-time Olympic gold medallist, along with being the Phoenix Mercury's two-time Kia WNBA Finals MVP, a three-time WNBA Champion and the WNBA all-time leading scorer.

“It really is an incredible feeling to see your hard work memorialized on the cover of a game like NBA 2K23,” said Taurasi. “There are so many kids that dream of pursuing a professional basketball career, and they can now also dream of being on the NBA 2K cover, whether they want to play in the NBA or WNBA.”

As for Sue Bird, she is no slouch either, as she is also a five-time Olympic gold medallist, the Seattle Storm’s four-time WNBA Champion, a staggering thirteen-time WNBA All-Star and WNBA all-time assists leader.

“The response to NBA 2K’s first WNBA Edition last year was overwhelmingly positive and a testament to the W’s growing audience and prominence,” said Alfie Brody, Vice President of Global Marketing Strategy at 2K. “Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi have achieved greatness both individually and together, cementing their status as two of the best players in the WNBA’s history.”

You can check out the cover variant of the game below, which joins the recently announced Michael Jordan themed editions, but we will still need to wait for the first gameplay details, as well as the athletes set to grace the cover of the regular editions.
