Monsters Inc Land finds a new home at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Back at the D23 Expo in August 2024, there was a lot of details released for new rides and attractions coming to Disney Parks around the world, including the reveal of the first ever Monster Inc Land.

When the reveal happened, there were two pieces of concept are released for the land, both of which were very different to each other, which let many fans to speculate on where the land would be going. For some it was going to be taking over The Muppets Courtyard and for others it was the Animation Courtyard and it turns out the former was correct, as Disney have confirmed that is the new home for the land.

As you can see via the new concept art below the land will be decent in size, but the only new building will be the Monster Inc factory at the bac of the land, everything else already exists and will be rethemed to match the new setting.

Actually, if you look at the image below, which includes a Google Maps screen overlayed with the concept art, you can see just how similar the land will be. The only major difference is the large pink building in the middle will actually be demolished, in order to open the land up and make the new park as seen in the art above.

Details are not confirmed, but as it looks now, the restaurant known as Mama Melrose’s Ristroante Italiano will be closed and rethemed to be Harryhausen's, the location of Mike and Celia’s date from the original movie. The other food location in the land is currently called PizzeRizzo and has a giant sign out the front proclaiming it to be “The City’s Top Rated Pizza”, but most of the letters are broken so it just reads “It’s Rat Pizza”. In the new version of the space, there is no word on what will replace this space. Finally, the current MuppetVision 3D theatre will be rethemed to a new show, but there is no word on what it will be called or about.

That actually gives me a good segue to talk about The Muppets, because as they are losing the theatre (that seems to be a theme for these guys), but the show will go on, though not as a show. The Muppets will actually head to the otherside of the park and take over Rock ‘n’ RollerCoaster, kicking out Aerosmith.

All we know about that is that they will be teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival.

There is no time frame on either update, but they have said there is more than enough time to visit both attractions before they are replaced.
