Monster Hunter Wilds reveals new details including a beta test
Capcom recently hosted another new Monster Hunter Wilds showcase, where they revealed even more details about the game, including another location, monsters and more. But first the details for the upcoming beta test.
First up, there are two batches of tests for the game, the first Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta will be available exclusively to PlayStation Plus members on PlayStation 5. That will run for 3 days and then the Open Beta will open up for all PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC players. The times for all of them are below.
First Open Beta:
October 30 at 2:00pm AEDT – November 1 at 1:59pm AEDT
PlayStation 5 owners with active PlayStation Plus
Second Open Beta:
November 1 at 2:00pm AEDT – November 5 at 1:59pm AEDT
PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam
There is no need for any membership on consoles for the second open beta, so all can enjoy the game during that time. As for what is included, the open beta includes three pieces of content: Character Creation, the Story Trial, and the Doshaguma Hunt. Traverse the Windward Plains to experience a changing ecosystem rife with opportunity.
The good news, all characters created in the open beta can be carried over to the full game, so you can take your time now and save time later. Any progress made in the open beta will not carry across, just the character you make.
Anyone who takes part in the open beta will earn themselves a charm for their character to wear in the full game.
As for what was revealed, there was a good number of things covered off, first up is the new location Oilwell Basin. The Oilwell Basin is a new locale where the expedition team arrives. As the name implies, the area is brimming with oil wells, which will periodically burst into violent flames.
Within the Oilwell Basin is Azuz, the Everforge. This is a place where a community has developed around a massive forge, where anyone who is skilled in forging goes to work and live. Players will discover some unique stories in this location.
One of the new beasts revealed is Rompopolo.
This large beast lives within the deep oil silts that are dotted around the Oilwell Basin and because of that, the character has changed to take full advantage of its home.
For those who want a beast with a little fire behind them, then Ajarakan is one to watch out for.
The Ajarakan, a creature with a uniquely developed shell, thrives amidst the harsh conditions of the Oilwell Basin's Inclemency and the Firespring. Remarkably, it transforms into a fiery red hue as it frictionally heats its shell through self-rubbing.
Now, hear are some screens from the game, the first few are from a mission that players will get to enjoy in the open beta and the rest are from Azuz.
Finally, in Japan it has been revealed that PlayStation 5 themed items are coming, with a red DualSense controller and PlayStation 5 Slim plates. There is no word on local availability at this time.
