Monster Hunter Rise is bringing the series back to Switch this March
Overnight Capcom announced Monster Hunter Rise an all new entry in the series coming exclusively to Switch on March 26, 2021 and it looks amazing, check out the reveal trailer below.
In Rise, players will find themselves in the new Kamura Village, a place known for attracting those who love unique weapons and want to experience a different culture. From the town, players will make their way out into the world, on maps that feature no load times, something that Capcom achieved with Monster Hunter World. This means that once your quest begins, there will be no reason to wait as the hunt will let you roam without the need for transitions.
The basic gameplay will be the same as other entries in the series, but there are a few new additions to it, that will make it feel new and fresh, even to long time players. The biggest additions come in the form of the Wirebug, which lets you grapple to pull yourself around the map, you can us it to reach new locations, or just help you get higher. In combat you can also use the Wirebug to elevate yourself above your target, giving you more ways to lay the smack down.
But it is not just zipping around in the air that is new, the game will also introduce new companions in the form of Palamutes. These rideable companions will give you more options in combat, attacking enemies for you, but will also allow you to ride them, letting you run around the map, without reducing your own stamina. When playing solo, you can bring a Palamute, or if you prefer a Canyne and the series staple a Felyne, but if you play with friends, you can only have one.
Of course, it wouldn't be a Monster Hunter game with out some new monsters to hunt and the big new addition this time around is Magnamalo, but Capcom are being quiet on just what makes this guy so special. On top of that one, players can expect to confront additional new monsters like the shape-shifting Aknosom, the amphibious Tetranadon, as well as numerous fan-favorite and returning species from previous Monster Hunter games. In addition to the plethora of solo and multiplayer quests, the story mode will task aspiring hunters with discovering the secrets behind the puzzling “Rampage” events that threaten Kamura Village.
In addition to that, three new amiibo have been announced as well, letting players scan them in, to unlock exclusive armours. These will be available on the same day as the game, so look for them, if you are a collector.
The game is coming out in two versions a Digital Deluxe Edition and a physical Collector's Edition. The digital Deluxe Edition will include the standard edition of the game, as well as a digital DLC pack voucher that can be redeemed for bonus in-game content such as a “Kamurai” full layered armor set, exclusive gestures, cosmetic items and more. The limited Collector’s Edition (physical only) will contain everything from the Deluxe Edition, in addition to physical items including a monster icon sticker pack, Kamura mark enamel pin and an amiibo figure of Magnamalo, the flagship monster featured in the game.
