Moana 2 revealed, coming later in 2024
Disney have announced that their 2024 movie with be a sequel to Moana, called Moana 2 it will reunite Moana and Maui in an all-new adventure, check out the first look for it below.
The creative team leading this movie are all different from the original release, with Dave Derrick Jr. stepping up as Director, replacing John Musker and Ron Clements. Musker has retired from directing and Clements is rumoured to be working on an adaptation of DC’s Metal Men.
The songs in the original movie were mostly written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, but this time the duo of Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear are taking the lead, but Opetaia Foa’i will be writing some again, as they did int he first movie. Finally Mark Mancina who composed the movies score, will return to this as well.
As for the plot, all we have is the following:
After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.
There is no cast revealed for the movie by Disney, but Auliʻi Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson are likely to reprise their roles as Moana and Maui respectively.
Right now there is no set date, outside of November 2024, that will likely change quite soon though.
