Maxi-Geek's Best Of 2020 - Returning Game
2020 has been quite the year, but in the world of gaming, apart from some delays, it really just moved along like normal. Well, as normal as it can be in the midst of a global pandemic, with that said, there were countless amazing games across the various platforms and even some good movies to enjoy.
This time, we are talking the games that kept bringing us back, these games might not have been released this year, but updates and expansions gave us more reasons to go back and play them some more.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield kept the adventures going in 2020 with two expansions, one that was meh and the other that was incredible.
Both expansions gave trainers more Pokémon to catch, but more importantly, new locations to explore and as I said before, one of them was incredible. Not only did it offer new takes on classic Pokémon, The Crown Tundra also brought back all the legendries from over the years.
Both expansions did what they said, they offered new adventures, battles and Pokémon to capture, giving us plenty of reason to return.
At this point, I don’t know if there is much to say about Fortnite that hasn’t been said already, the game is a beast.
Though in 2020, it evolved somewhat from a standard game, to more of an experience, we have had trailers appear in the game before, but this year hosted concerts, which brought people in. If that wasn’t enough there was a massive, multi-month saga where Marvel characters came in and then the world got together and fought Galactus, it was insane.
But then, The Mandalorian showed up, plus the God of War himself Kratos and if that wasn’t crazy enough John-117 or but known by his rank, Master Chief also joined the fight, what 2021 will bring is anyone’s guess.
Hades is a winner again, having taken out the Best Indie award and given that the game is a rogue-like, which requires replaying it, there is no surprise it found itself in this list.
You are Zagreus, son of Hades and imprisoned in Hades, those are not the same, and your goal is simple, escape. Each time you fail and you will, you learn a little more of the story and it pushes you forward, combine that with buffs that change each time you play and a layout that is never the same, the game offers dozens and dozens of hours of gaming.
Even now, as I write this, I can’t help but think of my next run through the game, that is how fun they are.
