Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope delivers an entire cosmos of new details

Overnight Ubisoft hosted a showcase stream for Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, which dived into the game, showing off new gameplay, characters and more. First check out this new trailer for the game, which shows off a host of actions from characters, from those returning to those all new.

For those that are not aware, the Mario + Rabbids series is a tactical adventure, in which players take turns controlling all the members of their team, and push forward to clear out all enemies within the field of battle.

For this game, things are different as encounters can now take place anywhere, instead of within the set fields of the first game, plus there are no more grids, as combat is now far more open.

You will have to form a team of three Heroes - from the complete roster of nine, see them down below and get ready for adventure and of course battles. At the beginning of their turn, each hero can move freely within their individual range and take cover, team jump on their allies, or dash at their enemies. Each Hero also has two action points that can be spent by attacking or using an item or Spark Power.

There are many Sparks to choose amongst, each with a distinct power. Players will have to locate and save the Sparks to have them join the adventure, opening up new possibilities to help Heroes get the upper hand in battles.

Check out this gameplay overview trailer, which will deep dive into most aspects of the games mechanics, giving you a better idea of what to expect.

If the music in that gameplay overview sounded amazing, that would be due to the return of famed game composer Grant Kirkhope, but this time he is not alone. Yoko Shimomura, known for her work on Super Mario RPG, Kingdom Hearts and more and Gareth Coker who composed the music for both Ori games, Immortals Fenyx Rising and Halo Infinite.

Pre-orders for the game are also available as of today, with the game coming in two versions the standard and the Gold Edition, check out the base box art for the game below.

The standard edition is just the base game, it contains a bonus if you pre-order, but that is it. Also being sold is the Cosmic Edition, which is the base game and the Galactic Prestige Collection. For those who want everything, there is the Gold Edition, which comes with the game, Galactic Prestige Collection and the Season Pass, which will include three expansions.

If you want to go the digital route, you can get the base game here or the gold edition here. In addition to the new gameplay footage we got, Ubisoft also delivered a wealth of new screens for players to enjoy those are below.

Finally, here are all the heroes that are playable in the game, if you don’t see any, they may be added via the DLC, but they won’t be in the base game, so Donkey Kong fans are out of luck for now.

The characters are Mario, Luigi, Peach, Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Luigi, Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Rosalina, Bowser and Edge, in that order.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is launching on Switch on October 20th, so there are still a few months to go until release.
