Nintendo is bringing Mario Kart World to Switch 2

We sort of knew it was coming, it was the only game related subject shown during the Switch 2 reveal video back in January, but we got the first proper look at Mario Kart World, which is launching with the console. Check out the reveal trailer below.
With this latest Mario Kart title there is not just a single new gameplay addition there are several, as the game is taking the barriers from the side of the track and letting you go wild.
Players will be able to compete in the traditional style races that we have been enjoying since Super Mario Kart, this time though with 24 players on the track, but wait as there is more beyond that. One big new addition is the Knockout Tour, which as its names suggests knockouts out players who are last, except the catch is that the race takes place over back to back courses. In the race you must fight for first position, if you are in the last four positions when the final player ahead of your group crosses the last checkpoint, then you are eliminated.
If that sounds to stressful, then check out the Free Roam mode, which for the first time in the series history, lets you get off the track and explore, without Lakitu telling you off. Itβs possible to go off the racetrack and drive in any direction you wish, explore areas that pique your interest and take some photos at scenic spots with a group of friends.
Finally, there are more details coming as a special Mario Kart World Direct is taking place on April 18. For now, enjoy a wealth of screens for the new game. The game arrives on June 5th, same day as the Switch 2 console itself.
