Mario Golf: Super Rush gets its first big update today, bringing ranked play to the game

Nintendo have announced that a new update for Mario Golf: Super Rush is out now, that adds ranked play to the game, a new playable character in Toadette and more, check out the footage below, from the Japanese build of the game to see Toadette in action.

Ranked play will take things into consideration before you get to play, first will be how you want to play, those who prefer motion controls, which are also improved in this update, will not get matched against those you use buttons.

Once you have selected your method of play, you will choose your character and then version of golf, the standard golf of the Speed Golf mode and then the game will find players that meet the same requirements as you and are not too far away, then its tee time.

What is interesting is that as you play, you will earn points, the better you play, then the more points you earn and each month, if you achieve a set level, you will unlock special-coloured characters and different outfits.

While the points will reset each month, the rankings will continue to show, so if you rank high enough, people will always know.

There is also a new course added to the game, New Donk City from Super Mario Odyssey, featuring 18 holes, all of which are Par 3 in length, so while not a massive course in terms of length, there will be a lot of technical requirements, in order to get by like hitting the ball of walls. There is also a hard option, which rearranges all the hole locations, if you want a real challenge.
