LudoNarraCon is back for another year, with plenty of stories to tell

Fellow Traveller have announced that the convention you can attend without pants is back, as LudoNarraCon 2023 will take place from May 5th to May 9th.

So what is LudoNarraCon? It is a digital convention that takes place via Steam, which lets viewers tune into panels and chats and download demos, all without needing to leave your house. This year will see 44 games exhibiting, more than 14 live panels and fireside chats, and over 35 demos, 18 of which are debuting at the event.

If you didn’t get it with Narra in the name, this is a narrative focused event, so these games are all about the story, as much as they are the gameplay, so you are unlikely to find any endless runners or realistic sports games here. What you will find though is this line up.

Some of the games above are already out like Citizen Sleeper, The Pale Beyond and Hardspace Shipbreaker, but plenty of them are still to come. Demos for many of the games will be releasing during the show, including one for Mythwrecked Ambrosia Island. In fact here is the list so far, of demos to be released during the show:

Organisers Fellow Traveller will also release a demo during the show, for an unknown title.

Of course, for some convention goers it is the panels that are the most appealing, hearing direct from people about the games they are making and their experiences doing so. This year will contain 14 panels and fireside chats, with guests like:

  • Ron Gilbert, the genius mind behind Monkey Island, The Cave, Pajama Sam, and much more

  • Felice Tzehuei Kuan, Narrative Director at Deck Nine Games, the developers of Life is Strange: True Colors, Life is Strange: Before the Storm and the upcoming The Expanse: a Telltale Series

  • Scott Chen, co-founder of Sigono, responsible for the Opus series

So the big question, where can you buy tickets? You don’t need to, the entire show is free and takes place right on Steam. The event kicks off at 3am on May 5th and will run until May 9th, but the Steam page will remain for a few more days after it ends. All the extra details, including a FAQ can be found here.
