Kart Klass is in session with a look at Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit
Nintendo have released two very cool videos for the upcoming Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit and all new take on Mario Kart. The first video is all about the game, how you play, what you can do and more, check it out.
The games main mode is the Grand Prix, just like regular Mario Kart, but rather than competing against a host of racers from across the Mushroom Kingdom, you will only get to race against Koopalings. The Grand Prix tracks are not fixed, but they each contain a different theme, Bowers Castle will have fire bars spinning around the gates, where as the haunted house, has Boo’s all over the course.
Of course items are here and most of them will work just as you remember, grabbing a mushroom in-game gives the physical kart a speed boost, whereas getting hit by a red shell will stop the kart in its tracks. Plus there are the ever popular slippery banana skins, ink-spilling Bloopers, and even Bullet Bills that enable the kart to surge around the course at high speed, steering itself.
The only downsides for the game are thus, you need a large flat space to play in, they suggest 3.5m by 3m, there be no animal hair on your desired course, as it could get caught in the wheels and that you avoid stairs, slopes and thick carpet or rugs. Oh and for those that want to share their courses online, you best break out another camera, there is no capture on the Switch for this title, which makes sense.
The developers of this might be unknown to you by their current name, Velan Studios, but you will know the founders from their former company Vicarious Visions. Check out the developer interview below to see why they started something new and just how Mario Kart Live came to be.
