JBL are entering the gaming space with quantum leap

JBL have announced that they are stepping into the gaming space, in a major way with the announcement of seven, yes 7, different gaming headsets, but on top of that they are also bringing some dedicated PC speakers to market as well, though today we are only taking about the headphones.

The Quantum Range, as they are called, all sport the JBL QuantumSOUND Signature tech packed inside, what that means is that the sounds you here will be as crisp as you can expect them to be, as if you were in the game itself. The range covers all budgets and gaming styles from the entry level headset up to the monster one, each has a different set of options, so you can pick the one best suited for you.

The range is the JBL Quantum 100, the JBL Quantum 200, the JBL Quantum 300, the JBL Quantum 400, the JBL Quantum 600 and the JBL Quantum 800 and the mack daddy of them all the JBL Quantum ONE. The 100 is your basic headset, with a fixed wired 3.5mm cable, it will connect with every device without issue, as you move up in the numbers, you get more features, the 300 series up adds QuantumSurround to the mix, literally which adds levels to sounds. Now if someone is above you in the game, the sound will come from above as well, giving you an extra sense of their position and help to immerse you in the game like never before.

Of course the big ones, the Quantum ONE takes things further, with what they are calling QuantumSphere 360 tech, the headset uses fancy algorithms and inbuilt head tracking sensors, to learn where you are looking and placing the sound in the right spot. So if you are getting shot from behind and someone calls to you in real life, turning your head means the sound will now come from from the ear on the direction you turned, it is amazing stuff.

“Our world-class team of acoustic engineers delved deep into the gaming arena to define the most accurate soundscape in gaming,” said Ms. Grace Koh, VP and General Manager, Lifestyle Audio Division of Asia Pacific at HARMAN. “During the design process, we tested extensively with gamers around the world to develop the most advanced predictive algorithm for the JBL Quantum Range, making every game immersive and every gamer more competitive. Setting a new standard with the finest audio quality, the JBL QuantumSURROUND™ technology is expertly engineered to outperform the most popular spatial sound technologies available for gaming headsets today.”

Each headset comes with a flip up boom mic, which features the standard mute when raised setting, but also has tech to remove unnecessary noise from the background, letting your voice be the star.

The JBL Quantum Range also features PU leather-wrapped memory foam ear cushions on the JBL Quantum 100, JBL Quantum 200, JBL Quantum 300 and JBL Quantum 400 models, and premium leather-wrapped memory foam ear cushions on the JBL Quantum 600, JBL Quantum 800 and JBL Quantum ONE models.

The 800 and ONE both have active noise cancellation as well, giving you something else to think about, in fact there are so many things to consider, JBL have a handy little chart, which is below, letting you see what features come with what one, the only thing we don’t have yet is pricing, that is expected soon though.
