HomePod mini is coming in November and shrinks the device, but not the sound

Apple held another event overnight, I know, those crazy Cupertinos, but in it, they revealed that Home Pod, their Siri power speaker has been shrunk, a lot and they brought out HomePod mini.

When they say mini they mean it, the entire device is just over 8cm tall, which is a far cry from the originals 17cm height. But even with that much smaller form factor, Apple are promising sound that will still be as excellent .

“HomePod mini has everything customers want in a smart speaker — amazing sound for listening to music, a world-class intelligent assistant that delivers a personal experience to each member of the household, and like every Apple product, it’s designed with privacy and security in mind,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “HomePod mini is the ultimate smart speaker for anyone with an Apple device. It works effortlessly with iPhone to hand off music, answer calls, or deliver personalised listening suggestions, elevates the sound from Apple TV, plays music from a Mac, and so much more. There’s a lot of Apple innovation packed into such a small speaker, all at an affordable price."

As HomePod mini comes packed with Siri, all those shortcuts and commands you can give your phone, also work with your HomePod, meaning light controls, music requests and even checking in on the weather.

The best news though is that HomePop mini will release here in Australia on November 16, with orders being taken from the 7th and the price is a crisp and affordable $149.
