Hocus Pocus 2 gets more cast members as filming commences
They are back, or at least they will be, some 330 years, give or take a few days, the Sanderson sisters are getting ready to hit the screens again, as Hocus Pocus 2 is in production now, with it coming to Disney+ next year, likely around Halloween.
Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy are returning as Winifred, Sarah, and Mary, with the incomparable Doug Jones also returning as Billy Butcherson. Of course, witches couldn’t have fun terrorising children, if there were none, so on that front we have Whitney Peak as Becca, Lilia Buckingham as Cassie, and Belissa Escobedo as Izzy, three young women in present-day Salem who incite the wrath of the three witches.
Rounding out the cast of Hocus Pocus 2 are Hannah Waddingham, Tony Hale, Sam Richardson, Juju Brener, Froy Gutierrez, Taylor Paige Henderson, and Nina Kitchen.
The movie is being directed by Anne Fletcher, who is known for Step Up, 27 Dresses and The Proposal.
“I am beyond thrilled to be involved in the sequel to a film that is as beloved as Hocus Pocus,” says Fletcher. “Fans around the world have embraced these characters and have made this film a Halloween tradition whose popularity continues to grow, and how lucky am I to be back at Disney with these three extraordinarily talented ladies in the iconic roles they created, as well as our fabulous new additions to the cast?”
The movie is written by Jen D’Angelo and produced by Lynn Harris, with Adam Shankman, Ralph Winter, and David Kirschner serving as the sequel’s executive producers.
This isn’t the first time the three stars have returned to the rolls, doing so back in 2020 in order to add a little bit of joy in Halloween, given how bad things were in the USA at the time.
