GRID Legends has a release date and a bevy of new information
EA and Codemasters revealed yesterday that they were going to have a showcase of GRID Legends overnight, showing off new gameplay as well as the release date and boy did they ever.
First up, the game will release on February 25th for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, plus it supports crossplay and offers both a Deluxe or Standard edition to choose from.
“With the release date set, the studio is putting the final polish to our deepest GRID game ever,” said Chris Smith, GRID Game Director at Codemasters. “GRID Legends is an all-action accessible racer focused on variety and choice; deep career, a new innovative story mode and a Race Creator that allows players to create dream racing match-ups with deep personalisation. And our new hop-in gameplay enables friends to connect in seconds and spend more time on the track and less time in lobbies.”
Players who jump in will find over 250 events, a story mode with the pun name of ‘Driven to Glory’, the return of Drifting and Elimination events and making the GRID series debut, Electric Boost racing. Couple that with over 100 cars at launch, including the Aston Martina Valkyrie AMR, which is in the footage below, and dozens of tracks from around the world, there is a lot of content to enjoy.
If that wasn’t enough content for you, then you can always make your own, because with the new Race Creator, players can make their dream multi-class matchups, pitting different vehicle types together to create unique racing moments in every race. The experience can be personalised further by changing the weather conditions, time of day, or adding ramps and boost gates, so no race is ever the same.
Finally, I know right, there is the story mode, Driven to Glory and uses very similar tech to what Lucasfilm use for their Star Wars shows and will feature award-winning actor Ncuti Gatwa, plus it has the additional benefit of being a gritty motorsport story that throws players in at the deep end as teams battle for the GRID World Series.
But enough about all that, check out the below 17 minutes of gameplay, it is amazing and then below that, enjoy some new screens from the game.
