Games with Gold: The August line up ends things with a whimper

Xbox have announced that final two games for the Games with Gold program, as it wraps up at the end of August, ahead of Xbox Game Pass Core launch in September.

Unlike past months, where one game would go live on the first and the second on the 16th, both games in August will be up on August 1st and be available all month long. Which means for the first two weeks, there will be three games available, with the July line up running into the month.

Blue Fire

Evil forces have taken over the world of Penumbra. They need a warrior of light and darkness! Embark on a journey to explore temples filled with 3D platforming challenges, battle wild enemies, and go on side quests. Master the art of movement as you face increasingly challenging Void Puzzles and unlock the secrets that will save the day.

Inertial Drift

Can you master the perfect drift? Drive through a 90s retro future in this arcade racing game that leverages a unique handling model and twin-stick drift mechanics. Choose from 16 unique cars across 20 wild tracks to tear through the neon streets. Rev up your skills in single-player story move and then prove you’re the best in multiplayer.

So there we go, the final two games within the Games with Gold program and honestly, they are about as impactful as you might expect, given the lack of effort Xbox has put into the service over the past year.

While yes, the program has been more of a bonus, than a feature, given they kept increasing the value for a few years to then see it drop this low is insulting. Either way these are the final two games and there won’t be a need to worry about it any more.
