Floodland asks the question this November, how will you rebuild?

Developer Vile Monarch are having a pretty busy Gamescom, revealing two games, one is about surviving after the world changes and the other is about surviving after the world changes. Ok, the first one is The Last Alchemist, but the other one is Floodland and both are very different games, check out the debut trailer for the game below.

Starting off on the outskirts of a drowned city, you have to lead your small group of nomads, to rebuild society from the ground (puddle) up. You do this by exploring the remains of the flooded city and scouring it for resources, relearning basic agriculture and fishing skills and turning a group of stragglers living in tents in a swamp into a thriving town.

“Grzegorz and I came up with the idea for Floodland when we discussed conventions that are unexplored in games - one of them being ‘mature and realistic post apocalypse’; with examples in other media such as The Road, Children of Men or even The Walking Dead; in games, The Last of Us would be the closest”, said Mr Kwiatkowski. It felt especially timely and important to use these kinds of stories to let us discuss the challenges of the world nowadays.”

The studio founders, Kacper Kwiatkowski and Grzegorz Mazur, both worked on This War of Mine, a game that brought home the horror of war, in a way that no other videogame had managed to do before and they are hoping to do the same about the environment in Floodland.

The game is set to launch this November 15 for PC.
