Final Fantasy XVI gets a new trailer and a release date
Square Enix were at The Game Awards 2022 to show off a new trailer for Final Fantasy XVI and at the end of the trailer they provided the games release date, June 6 2023. Check out the new trailer below.
As this is an all-new Final Fantasy games, in it players will be taken to an all-new universe, one that is an epic dark fantasy world, the realm of Valisthea. This new land has been blessed in the light of the Mothercrystals, and where peace falters as the spread of the Blight threatens to destroy their dominions. The fate of the land is decided by the Eikons, powerful and deadly creatures, and their Dominants, men and women who have been blessed with the ability to call upon and wield them.
This is the tale of Clive Rosfield, a warrior granted the title “First Shield of Rosaria” and sworn to protect his younger brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Phoenix, Eikon of Fire. Before long, Clive will be caught up in a great tragedy and swear revenge on the Dark Eikon Ifrit, a mysterious entity that brings calamity in its wake.
The game will only be PlayStation 5 at launch, but after December 31st 2023, it can then show up on others. There is no word on if this is just PC or if Xbox is included, however given the agreement between Sony and Square Enix, it is likely just the first.
