F1 2023 announced and coming in June

The starting line is calling once more as Electronic Arts have announced F1 23 is on its way and will leave the pits on June 16th. Check out the reveal trailer for the game below.

As I predicted at the start of the year, F1 23 has dropped last gen consoles meaning it is now PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 only.

There have been a few big changes to this years release over past year, one such update is around the cars handling. The overhaul of the handling now allows for more predictable behaviour, and the new vehicle physics gives the cars better traction when braking, accelerating, and cornering.

This isn’t just something the team at Codemasters sought to do on their own, they worked with various F1 teams to ensure it was right, but it wasn’t just the handling. Engine torque and inertia improvements also mean throttle control is more authentic and offers a greater level of connection to the car and when taken on board with the updated aerodynamics and tire grip, means the racing experience will be as pure as you can get it.

Long time fans will be happy to see the Braking Point story make its return as well. This year it follows the careers of young upstart Aiden Jackson, and protagonist, Devon Butler, now teammates for Konnersport Racing Team. There are new characters, rivals and challenges to face, but surely you are up to the task.

As far as tracks go, the 2023 track line up is making a return but there are some new ones being added, which includes the new Las Vegas and Lusail circuits. In addition three legacy tracks Paul Ricard from France, Shanghai from China, and Portimão from Portugal are all being added at launch.

Something new for this season though is that of the F1 World Hub, a way for players to experience content that is inspired by the events of the real world. This will also be the place for new players to come, in order to learn the world of Formula 1 racing. F1 World brings together multiple game modes, including Time Trial and Grand Prix, offering an exciting new way to play the game. A new progression system allows players to level up by completing challenges to unlock car upgrades, new liveries, race suits, and helmets. A new safety rating system links online and offline play, encouraging drivers to race cleanly. This system also helps pair like-minded drivers more efficiently for improved online racing.

The game will be out on June 16th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via EA App, Steam and Epic Game Store, but there is a deluxe edition launching 3 days earlier, if you can’t wait.
