EA Sports FC 25 has been revealed and is coming this September
Ah clockwork, how predictable are you, the only thing more predictable is Electronic Arts and their soccer games, which is why its no surprise that EA Sports FC has been revealed and given a September 27 release date for all platforms. Check out the reveal trailer below.
Ok, so that trailer is useless as it shows nothing about the game, which is sadly a common thing for sport games reveal trailers, the recent 2K NBA 25 was the exact same. So what is new about this years release, compared to last year, well turns out quite a bit actually and some of it is more under the hood changes.
The major update is to Hypermotion, at least for those platforms that support it. Hypermotion itself is not new, it was in the game last year as well, but this year they have actually made it work as promised. Last year the system was focused on top half of a player, so their head, torso and arms, the later of which made no sense for a soccer game. This time around the legs are included, which will make players run in the game, as they do in real life.
If you are not aware of what Hypermotion is, the system basically records matches and players and then translates all of that into data that can be read by the game. So instead of animators having to go through and attempt to replicate the run of *insert soccer player of choice here, Hypermotion just does that for them. I did get to see the difference between last years release and this years release and it looks like it will make for a more accurate representation.
The other new addition is FC IQ, which aims to introduces a revolutionary change to the tactical underpinnings of every 11v11 match, granting enhanced strategic command. This innovation is fueled by a novel AI model that leverages data from elite football teams to shape player tactics via entirely new Player Roles. The transformation of team tactics, coupled with more lifelike group dynamics, updates positioning across the field. This shift not only alters the gameplay of each team to reflect their actual playing style but also ensures a broader diversity in gameplay from one match to the next.
However for all they give, they do have to take something away and this year Volta is no more. Well the name is gone, but the underlying idea is still present. Replacing Volta is Rush, still a 5v5 mode so that has not changed, but now it uses the exact same mechanics as the standard 11v11 mode. Rush mode is an exciting new feature accessible in Football Ultimate Team, Clubs, and Kick-Off modes, designed specifically for multiplayer fun. It enables groups of up to four friends to join forces and compete on the field, all while relying on an AI-controlled goalkeeper. For those who prefer a solo experience, Rush brings a dynamic, fast-paced twist to Manager Career. Players can immerse themselves in managing their Youth Academy's progress over the season, highlighted by engaging in new 5v5 tournament gameplay.
In the latest update to Career Mode, the Live Start Points feature allows players to immerse themselves in the most significant real-world football events. This includes assuming control of a club amidst mid-season transfers or changes in management. Furthermore, this year marks a milestone with the introduction of women's football to Career Mode, establishing equal representation with men's football in all aspects of the game. This is a significant step forward in EA SPORTS FC's ongoing efforts to expand and enhance the representation of women's football.
The game itself will arrive on September 27th for Switch, PC, Xbox and PlayStation, with Hypermotion V only available in the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC releases. As usual, if you want to pay more for the game, you can pick it up 7 days early on September 20th.
