EA Play Live 2022 is not going ahead this year
In a statement released to IGN, Electronic Arts have announced that EA Play Live will not be taking place in 2022, making this the first year in a while that the studio hasn’t had a singular broadcast to highlight their titles. Check out the full statement below.
We love EA Play Live as it's our way of connecting with our players and sharing what’s new with all of you. However, this year things aren't lining up to show you everything on one date. We have exciting things happening at our world-class studios and this year we’ll reveal much more about these projects when the time is right for each of them. We look forward to spending time with you throughout the year!
Electronic Arts stepped away from E3 a number of years ago now and have traditionally hosted their own mini-E3 out in Hollywood, but with the world shutting down live events, due to the pandemic, EA pivoted to a digital only show.
While the plans state they have nothing coming for a larger single showcase, that doesn’t mean they are stopping the looks, we just got a great stream the other day for Dead Space, so it wouldn’t surprise me if we saw more games specific streams in the future, so they can dedicate as much time as they want to each game they choose to showcase.
Of course, with Xbox still set to host their showcase this year, if the rumours are true, we could see a few EA games pop up there.
