Disney delays Black Widow and Cruella, while shifting Luca to Disney+
After choosing to delay a few movies in their USA release plan, it has been confirmed that Disney will do the same here for Black Widow, Cruella and Luca.
Black Widow, which was set to debut in cinemas on April 29 has been delayed until May 28, so a month later and Cruella, which was set for May 27 will now hit the big screen on July 9. The other change is that both movies will be released on Disney+, using the Premier Access method that Raya and the Last Dragon offered when it released.
“Today’s announcement reflects our focus on providing consumer choice and serving the evolving preferences of audiences. By leveraging a flexible distribution strategy in a dynamic marketplace that is beginning to recover from the global pandemic, we will continue to employ the best options to deliver The Walt Disney Company’s unparalleled storytelling to fans and families around the world,” said Kareem Daniel, Chairman, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution.
The other big change is that Luca, the upcoming Pixar film has dropped off the cinema release completely and will now release on June 18 as a Disney+ release.
