Dell have released the new XPS 15 and XPS 17 laptops into the wild... today

Dell Australia have announced that the updated XPS 15 and XPS 17 laptops, which were revealed earlier in the year, have now made their way to retail locations starting today, so surprise.

Let us take a look at both models, including some of their key technical specifications, starting with the XPS 15.

As its name suggests, the XPS 15 contains a 15.6 inch display, which is contained within a border they call InfinityEdge, giving the device a screen ratio of 92.9% when compared to the body itself.

Packed inside though users will find the latest Intel 12th Gen CPUs, along with graphic cards that run up to the GeForce RTX 2050 Ti. Ram can be as little as 8gb or as much as 64gb, all the while running at an insane 4800MHz and on the storage side, you can get anywhere from 256gb via a PCIe 3 card and go up to an insane 8tb.

Ports are critical on any device these days and the XPS 15 comes with the following:

  • 2x Thunderbolt™ 4 (USB Type-C™) with DisplayPort and Power Delivery

  • 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C™ (DisplayPort / Power Delivery)

  • 1x Full size SD card reader v6.0

  • 1x 3.5mm headphone jack.

The machine comes in the Dell version of Black and White, you can get an idea of what they look like below.

Now let us take a look at the XPS 17.

For the most part, the internals for this XPS 17 are the same as the XPS 15, just with a larger display. That display is a 17inch display, which again using the InfinityEdge tech, gives it a screen-to-body ratio of 93.7%

The internals are mostly the same, meaning that inside users will find the latest Intel 12th Gen CPUs, along with graphic cards that run up to the GeForce RTX 2050 Ti. Ram can be as little as 8gb or as much as 64gb, all the while running at an insane 4800MHz and on the storage side, you can get anywhere from 256gb via a PCIe 3 card and go up to an insane 8tb.

Where things change slightly is with the ports, as a larger machine, there is more room for additional ports, this is what is included on the XPS 17:

  • 4x Thunderbolt™ 4 (USB Type-C™) with DisplayPort and Power Delivery

  • 1x Full size SD card reader v6.0

  • 1x 3.5mm headphone jack.

This laptop is only available in black, additional pictures of it are below.

Finally, it is time to talk price, because these are not cheap machines, the starting price for the XPS 15 is $3,499 and the XPS 17 starts at $4,999 and of course, if you add more storage or ram, those prices go up from there.

Availability is happening today from Dell direct and they are expected into retail stores soon.
