Cyberpunk 2077 drops a new update to allow even more customisation

In a move that many thought was never going to happen, CD Projekt Red announced overnight a new update for Cyberpunk 2077, more than a year after the ‘final’ update released.

This new update is just called Updated 2.2 and while it might not have the sexiest name around, it does have a few new additions that many players will want to explore, namely customisation.

First up, lets talk player customisation. Now while you don’t see V during the game all that much, you can still make your V unique, but the new update adds in more variants of cosmetic cyberware, tattoos, makeup options, and more. In fact the new update adds in these following additions:

  • 32 eye colors

  • 18 lip makeup types

  • 17 nail colors

  • 10 cheek makeup types

  • 16 eye makeup types

  • 4 face scars

  • 5 eyebrow shapes

  • 4 face tattoos

  • 2 body tattoos

  • 8 cosmetic face cyberware options

Plus, the upgraded the Character Creator randomizer to feature a new Plain-to-Punk slider. Whether you're aiming for an understated, casual look or a bold, edgy style for your V, you can now use the slider to strike the perfect balance.

Once you have your perfect look, you will want to immortalise it and the updates to the photo mode will give you more ways to do that. The update now allows players to have the ability to spawn up to three additional characters in the scene, increased camera range, and new lighting options. Here are the new updates, in a handy list form:

  • Drone Camera is now a free camera instead of an orbital camera centred around V.

  • Increased camera range.

  • Full Collision (ON/OFF) - determines whether the camera respects in-game object collisions.

  • Lock Camera (ON/OFF) - locks the camera to avoid misclicking and ruining the frame.

  • Precise Camera (ON/OFF) - slows the camera down for easier aiming.

  • Aspect Ratio (PC-only. Custom-resolution screenshots are not available on consoles. Console systems can only export images in the standard 16:9 format.)

  • Characters tab: Spawn up to 3 NPCs for your photo, with a list of over 20 characters to choose from. You can adjust their expression, pose and position.

  • Lighting tab: Spawn and adjust light sources.

  • Fixed the Depth of Field ghosting issue.

  • Added an Effect Intensity slider.

Now you might be thinking, oh yes new photos but it means nothing without an ability to view them and you would be right, which is why the new SmartFrames by Kiroshi are so welcome. Ok, so that last bit is an in-game tech creation, but what it means is that you can now display your photos in V’s apartment. Just browse your photo collection in the new Gallery menu tab located alongside Journal, Shards and Tarot. The Gallery pulls .png images from the screenshots folder on your PC or from your console gallery. For more details on SmartFrames™ and the Gallery, see this Support article.

Now if you have a new look, it is only fair that your ride does as well. The game now offers up a new way for you to respray your car, even while driving, to give it a fresh new look.

So how does it work, like so:

Simply scan a car with your Kiroshi optics, switch to the TWINTONE™ tab, then save the vehicle's color scheme for a small fee. You'll then be able to select the scheme in the TWINTONE™ database under the CrystalCoat™ menu. There, you'll also find generic colour schemes for all CrystalCoat™-compatible vehicles as well as unique color schemes exclusive to the vehicle model from which they were copied. Please note that colour scheme cloning is not authorized on vehicles that are linked to quests, belong to the NCPD or that are incompatible with CrystalCoat™ tech.

All vehicles compatible with CrystalCoat™ and TWINTONE™ are marked with a spray can icon on Autofixer.

Finally, if you want Johnny can now ride shotgun while you cruise around Night City. You must have completed Act 1 of the main story for it to happen and while he won’t show up every time, when he does he will comment and react to what is happening around him.
