Crunchyroll Expo is bringing the various worlds of anime together in Melbourne this September
With Crunchyroll becoming the only place to watch anime these days, outside of a few shows on other platforms, it is no big surprise to see that the former Anime Festival by Madman has been renamed the Crunchyroll Expo and will take place this September in Melbourne.
The show, at least in name, has always been a Los Angeles only affair, marking this years Melbourne show, the debut for it internationally. As with past Anime Festivals, there will be appearances by voice actors and other industry professionals, in addition to special screenings, cosplay competitions, live musical performances, gaming, manga, art, official merchandise and more.
“We are thrilled to add another Crunchyroll Expo to our events lineup and celebrate with our fans in Melbourne,” said Gita Rebbapragada, Chief Marketing Officer at Crunchyroll. “The appetite for anime in Australia is exploding, and we are excited to create a space where current and future fans can connect, all with the Down Under flavour our passionate local team is thoughtfully designing specifically for fans in that region. ”
The show will take place on the weekend of September 17 and 18, with the full schedule to be revealed as we get closer to the show. Sadly at this time there is no word on tickets will be available or what they will cost.
