Avowed delivers its first look at the gameplay and world
One of the earliest Xbox Series X games announced was Avowed, from RPG masters at Obsidian Entertainment and today at the Xbox Games Showcase, we got a proper gameplay trailer, check it out.
The game is set in Eora, a world that players of the the Pillars of Eternity series will be familiar with, but this is a new part of it, the Living Lands. It is a wild space, filled with mysteries and secrets, danger and adventure, and choice and consequences.
Every part of the Living Lands is home to its own ecosystem. Around every corner there are creatures, sentient mushrooms, or tribes of lizard-like Xaurips looking to make you their next meal…
Like any good Obsidian game, the players will have companions that will journey with them, the first one revealed is Kai, who is the narrator of the trailer above. As a former soldier, having Kai journey with you will be a blessing as the world is filled with Xuarips, plagued undead, and dangerous flora, this island is full of unique enemies to encounter.
Thankfully you won’t be defenceless if you go at it alone, as you will have swords, shields, pistols, magical spells, and more at your disposal, including the ability to dual wield, creating a vast number of combinations to choose from.
There is still a wait ahead as the game is coming in 2024 to Xbox Series X|S and PC.
